Ko Wen-je, the founding chairman of the Taiwan People's Party, has recently been embroiled in a sex scandal. In response to political commentator Wu Ching-yi's public reading of so-called "love letters" and accusations of infidelity against Ko Wen-je, the Taiwan People's Party caucus director in the Legislative Yuan, Chen Chih-han, responded on Friday (May 29) that the allegations were baseless and a mere attempt to obtain a press release.
The Taiwan People's Party caucus held a press conference this morning. During the subsequent joint interview, media outlets questioned Wu Ching-yi about her two consecutive live streams accusing Ko Wen-je of having an extramarital affair and publicly releasing love letters. Chen Chih-han bluntly stated that this topic was indeed very embarrassing for everyone; "Taking this piece of information from an unknown source more than ten years ago and then going on a TV show to deceive the audience," and "Of course, we know the NCC is dead, and we don't expect anything from this anymore."
Chen Zhihan further emphasized her support for FTV's lawsuit against Wu Jingyi, because this kind of behavior of taking information from dubious sources and then appearing on a program to deceive people into giving them appearances is tantamount to fraud.
The controversy stemmed from a series of revelations made by Wu Jingyi, a close associate of former legislator and Tsai Pi-ju, a member of the Taiwan People's Party Central Committee, on Thursday evening (28th) on the internet and political talk shows. Wu Jingyi accused Ko Wen-je of having an extramarital affair and read aloud excerpts from a love letter allegedly written by Ko Wen-je.
According to Wu Jingyi's revelation on the program, the letter was filled with intense emotions: "Having fallen into the mortal world, why do I have an indescribable liking for you?" "To make up for the guilt in my heart, I always try to set aside some time to have dinner with you, or to chat with you on the phone for a few minutes... A sense of guilt, pity, and reluctance has evolved into an uncontrollable love."
The letter details their interactions: "This is probably what it feels like to be cherished like a precious gem. These past three years have truly been the happiest time of my life." "At first, we were friends despite our age difference. You always called me your mentor, and more like your father than a friend... When I said I was afraid I would fall deeper and deeper, that I might fall in love with you..." The later part even describes an intimate scene: "That kiss on Qixi Festival erased all boundaries... If time could turn back, that night in Wulai, by the window under the cherry blossom tree, I would have held you gently in my arms all night long." The letter ends with the words, lamenting her sudden departure: "Cinderella, Cinderella~ my Cinderella, where have you gone? You're gone, and from now on, there will be no more joy in my life."
Besides the love letters, Wu Jingyi also alleged that Ko Wen-je had taken someone he liked to the Military Affairs Office in the Forbidden City in Beijing for photos, and that when he took a liking to another young woman, he said, "I want to take you too, because I like you so much." Wu Jingyi publicly challenged him, saying, "Ko Wen-je, you deny me! I'm telling you, the prosecutors have photos! They definitely have them!" She further revealed that the woman had sent her photos and complained, "Grace, how is this how you pick up girls? Why would I want to take photos with him?"
Regarding the "kiss" and "holding in his arms" mentioned in the letter, Wu Jingyi emphasized that the woman who received the letter had absolutely no feelings for Ko Wen-je, and the intimate contact scenes were most likely a one-sided fantasy. However, the public is also very curious about whether Ko Wen-je actually committed any inappropriate infidelity. At the end of the program, Wu Jingyi boldly added a revelation, revealing that when Ko Wen-je was involved in sex scandals in the past, many people would privately ask her, "Is it possible that Ko Wen-je has slept with someone?" To this, Wu Jingyi said, "I guarantee it won't," and stated that as far as she knows, "Ko Wen-je often goes to see a urologist."
