U.S. stocks on Friday (September 18) faced “quadruple witching,” as a large volume of derivatives expired simultaneously, amplifying trading volume and intraday volatility. However, U.S. Treasury yields approached 5% again, and international oil prices remained above $100 per barrel, keeping lingering concerns over inflation and further Federal Reserve (Fed) rate hikes alive.
