It is understood that the female trainee doctor was working a 8-hour shift on August 9 last year. After working for 36 hours, she found a conference room and lay down on the carpet to take a nap.
But the next day, colleagues found her half-naked body lying on a mattress covered in blood, with scars of sexual assault. A forensic autopsy revealed that the deceased had been strangled and had defensive wounds on her body, indicating that she had struggled to resist the attack.
An investigation by India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) found that Roy entered the hospital in a drunken state and found the female doctor taking a nap alone and committed an act of bestiality.
