Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Moscow on Thursday (May 5) and held a high-level meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. The two sides had in-depth discussions on China-Russia relations and major international and regional issues, and jointly pledged to deepen strategic cooperation and promote the development of bilateral relations towards a stable, healthy and high level.

According to CCTV, when Xi Jinping's motorcade arrived at the Kremlin, he was personally greeted by the Kremlin commander, and Putin held a grand welcome ceremony in the George Hall. The two heads of state then held small-scale and large-scale talks.

Xi Jinping pointed out that in the face of the countercurrent of unilateralism and bullying by powerful countries in the international community, China will work with Russia to shoulder the special responsibilities of a world power and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, resolutely defend the rights and interests of China, Russia and the vast developing countries, and work together to promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and economic globalization that is beneficial to all and inclusive.

Xi Jinping said that China and Russia should adhere to the general direction of cooperation, eliminate external interference, and make the foundation of cooperation more solid and the momentum of progress more sufficient. We should give full play to the complementary advantages of the two countries' resource endowments and industrial systems, and expand high-quality mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, energy, agriculture, aerospace, and artificial intelligence.

According to CCTV, Putin said that Russia-China relations are based on mutual equality and mutual respect, are not directed against any third party, and are not affected by any temporary event. It is Russia's strategic choice to unswervingly promote the development of Russia-China relations and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

After Xi Jinping held talks with Putin, they jointly signed the "Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation on Further Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in the New Era between China and Russia on the Occasion of Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union and the Founding of the United Nations."

The two heads of state jointly witnessed the exchange of more than 20 bilateral cooperation documents between China and Russia, covering areas such as global strategic stability, maintaining the authority of international law, biosecurity, investment protection, digital economy, quarantine, and film cooperation.
