Member of South Korean boy band BTS SugaMin Yoongi will serve in the military as a social service officer (alternative service) in September 2023. Last year, he was fined 9 million won for riding a small electric scooter while drunk. Now he will be officially discharged from the military this Saturday (June 1500), when BTS will end the "military retirement period" and usher in a complete group.
According to reports from Korean media, BTS's agency BIGHIT MUSIC released an announcement through the fan platform Weverse on Wednesday (18th), stating that "Suga is fulfilling his military service obligations as a social service worker and is about to be discharged from military service" and that "no official activities will be held on that day."
The announcement also called on fans to "please avoid going to the scene and simply convey their warm welcome and encouragement to Suga from the heart", and then said "Thank you to the fans for your support and unchanging love for Suga" and promised "to fully support the artist's activities in the future."
Last week, at the end of BTS's j-hope's first solo world tour concert "HOPE ON THE STAGE", teammates Jin and Jungkook took the stage to perform with j-hope, while Jimin, V, RM, and Suga, who had also just been discharged from the military, watched from the audience.
