It is understood that Malu, 39, joined Vogue as a social editor in 2011, writing articles about weddings, parties and fun things.
She became a contributing editor in 2016 and has been editor-in-chief of Vogue.com since 2023, overseeing the publication's digital content.
In addition to overseeing the editorial direction of the website, Malu also became the "voice" of Vogue in 2022, co-hosting the publication's only podcast program, "The Run-Through with Vogue", with Chioma Nnadi, editor-in-chief of the British edition.
Malu will now oversee the daily operations of American Vogue across all platforms and report directly to Anna Wintour.
Although 75-year-old Anna Wintour is no longer editor-in-chief of US Vogue, she remains Vogue's global editorial director and Condé Nast's global chief content officer, overseeing the editorial work of publications such as GQ, Teen Vogue and Vanity Fair.
