Regarding this, the creators, the Duffer brothers (Matt & Ross Duffer), said, "We are incredibly excited that fans can finally watch the final installment of Stranger Things together in theaters. This is something we've dreamed of for years, and we thank the Netflix team for making it a reality. Watching it on the big screen, with the stunning sound effects and the reactions of a full house, is the perfect, even the coolest, way to say goodbye!"

Previously, Netflix's Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, emphasized in an interview with Variety that the platform had no plans to bring Stranger Things to theaters. She stated, "A huge, huge, huge, huge number of people watch Stranger Things on Netflix. It never lacks discussion, it never lacks a fan community, and it doesn't need a theatrical release to compensate for anything. We feel that releasing it on Netflix is giving fans what they want."
In response, Matt Duf jokingly remarked that Bella's "poker face acting" was spot-on, then added, "Actually, we had planned this for a while. Netflix approached us with the idea of releasing the finale on different dates. We thought it was pretty cool, so we proposed this theatrical release idea to them for the first time."
"We haven't promoted this idea before because everyone watches TV shows at different paces. Some people have finished watching them while others haven't, which reduces the enjoyment of watching them simultaneously."
He continued, "This theatrical premiere was truly like a cinematic event, with everyone experiencing it together. That's the most exciting part for us, and it's the first time we've had this opportunity."
