Israeli ground attack on southern Gaza city Rafah (Rafah) is imminent, and the Israeli army ordered the evacuation of residents of central Rafah communities on Saturday (May 5), requiring these people to go to designated humanitarian zones, such as the Al Mawasi and Khan Younis areas. Avichay Adraee, the head of the Israeli military's Arab media department, also warned that Palestinians are not allowed to approach the Israeli border.
The Times of Israel pointed out that according to Adre's statement, the latest evacuation area covers Shaboura, Rafah City, and the neighboring communities of Geneina and Khirbat al-Adas. The British "Guardian" mentioned that Israel's move indicates that it is about to expand its military operations in Rafah. The Israeli army will advance into the center of Rafah and may advance to the entire city, threatening the lives of more homeless people.
After the war broke out, Rafah was where about 150 million Palestinians fled the fighting. The Israeli army only launched an evacuation of the Palestinian people in eastern Rafah on the 6th of this month. According to the United Daily News, 15 people have fled Rafah so far.
According to Reuters, Israeli tanks occupied the main roads in the east and west halves of Rafah on Friday (10th), effectively surrounding the entire eastern area of the French city. Local residents said that explosions and gunfire were almost constant in the east and northeast of Rafah that day.
Earlier on Thursday (9th), Israeli officials told the media that the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza in Egypt had broken down and the Israeli army would continue its offensive in Rafah.
