Iran's president dies in plane crash; vice president takes over temporarily

iranian president Leahy(Ebrahim Raisi) died in a plane crash on Sunday (May 5), Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei announced five days of national mourning on Monday (19th), and at the same time, in accordance with the Constitution, First Vice President Mukhbel (Mohammad Mokhber) acted as president temporarily and was confirmed by Khamini.

According to comprehensive media reports, Khamini said, "Mukhbel will be in charge of the executive branch. He must negotiate with the heads of the legislative and judicial departments to elect a new president within 50 days." According to the preliminary consensus of the Guardian Council, it was decided that the 14th presidential election will be held on June 6.

"We will follow Leahy's line and carry out our responsibilities without interruption," Mukhbel said.

In addition, after Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also died in a plane crash, Khamini approved top nuclear negotiator and Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri-Kani as acting foreign minister.
