National Communications Commission of the Republic of China (NCC) Since February this year, an additional review fee of NT$2 per case (the same below) has been added, which means that if people buy tablets, Bluetooth headsets and other devices online, they will be charged additional fees. The relevant regulations have attracted attention in recent days.
According to the NCC statement, if the public applies online for import approval of no more than two second-level telecommunications-controlled radio frequency devices for personal use, the import approval review fee is NT$2 per case. This policy was officially implemented on February 750 this year. The so-called second-level telecommunications regulated radio frequency equipment mainly includes devices that emit low-power radio waves, including mobile phones, tablets, Bluetooth headsets, WiFi receiving devices, wireless keyboards, wireless mice, etc.
Several KMT legislators criticized the issue on Saturday (February 2) and questioned the NCC on which electronic products currently do not have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. They said this move is tantamount to robbing the public of their money in disguise and asked the NCC to review the issue again.
Kuomintang legislator Wang Hongwei posted on Facebook on Saturday (February 2) to remind Taiwanese people that in the future, there will be differences in keyboards, mice, mobile phones, game joysticks, Bluetooth receivers, wireless headphones, game consoles, VR devices, etc.; what's even more exaggerated is that in addition to online shopping or sending them back to the manufacturer for repair, even sending them by yourself or carrying them through customs will be affected. "To put it bluntly, this is a disguised tax. It is conceivable that related 8C products will have to increase in price in the future, which will increase the burden on the people. It is no wonder that such high costs have caused an uproar on the Internet."
Kuomintang legislator Hsu Qiao-hsin said that this practice caused the public to think that there was a price increase, but in fact the money was taken away by the government, and that the NCC started to rob money after secretly revising its own fee standards. She criticized the "NCC for lying and robbing money," and said that if the opposition did not use the most rigorous supervision, the people of Taiwan would probably be treated as "plates" by the government endlessly.
According to a report by Central News Agency, NCC officials said that there are more than 2 applications for personal use each year, which require considerable manpower and resources to review. The review fee was added to reflect administrative costs. If the items are brought back from overseas for personal use, it will not be affected.
