巴勒斯坦激進組織 哈瑪斯 (Hamas)在10月7日突襲以色列,引爆全球多地挺以、挺巴的爭辯。英國廣播公司(BBC)倫敦總部上週六(14日)遭親巴勒斯坦團體潑灑紅漆後,如今(16日)又有約250名猶太示威人士齊聚大樓外抗議,不滿BBC「一直拒絕將哈瑪斯稱為恐怖分子」。
綜合台灣媒體《中央社》和BBC報導,活動策畫團體全國猶太大會(National Jewish Assembly)在推特(現稱為X)上寫道,「BBC現在只能將哈瑪斯稱作恐怖分子,沒有其他選項」。

英國國防大臣夏普斯(Grant Shapps)上週也表示,政府已在2021年將哈瑪斯列為恐怖組織,BBC應遵守「法律」,將哈瑪斯稱為恐怖組織。
不過,BBC國際新聞編輯、資深記者辛普森(John Simpson)解釋,「稱某人為恐怖分子意味著你站在某一方的立場」,「BBC的職責是向其受眾提供事實,讓他們可以誠實、不帶怒罵地決定他們的觀點」。
BBC發言人也指出,該公司記者不使用該詞,除非是在引用他人說法的時候,這是長期以來的做法。

此前,親巴勒斯坦團體對BBC總部大樓潑灑紅色油漆,指控BBC在以巴衝突的報導上「雙手沾滿鮮血」。
