British pop singer Sam Smith, who has won five Grammy Awards in his career, is reportedly engaged to his boyfriend of more than three years, fashion designer Christian Cowan. The two were first rumored to be dating in December 2022 when they witnessed then-President Joe Biden signing the Respect for Marriage Act (RMA) together at the White House.
Hollywood gossip site Page Six reported on Tuesday (May 5) that Smith and Cowan held an engagement ceremony at their hotel before attending this year's Met Gala.
"It was a private engagement," a source told Page Six. "They were absolutely ecstatic, and from what I've heard, they're deeply in love."
It is understood that Smith and Cowan were both born in the UK. The two first walked the red carpet together at the 2024 Met Gala in complementary outfits, and attended the event together again the following year. In recent years, they have also been photographed on several occasions engaging in intimate interactions in public on the streets of New York.
